“Arkwright Designs”
With a background in art, Sue began making jewelry 4 years ago with her signature “Barefoot Sandals” and they were a huge success. As time went on she began creating all types of jewelry made from Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, and semi-precious gemstones. Sue now offers a full array of custom made jewelry, (and except for a few popular pieces) you can be assured that you have a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Sue puts a lot of love and care into each piece of jewelry she makes and is willing to design anything your heart desires. She also repairs beaded jewelry and remakes and modernizes antique pieces so that they will be something to be proud of wearing today!

Three factors in my life lead me to begin making jewelry. I began oil painting 20 years ago and my skill at oil painting taught me all about how to blend colors. Secondly, I spent a good portion of my life working in the electronics field and became proficient in using many small hand tools and manual dexterity. Last, I worked for 20 years at a marketing company learning all about computers, marketing and sales. All of these life skills amounted to me being able to start my own company doing what I love and I’ve now been in business for over 5 years.

What it means to me and what I hope to achieve: It has given me the freedom to follow my passion and be my own boss and not have to work for another person. My plans for the future are to continue on my path of jewelry making learning new techniques and partnering with a jeweler who will showcase my jewelry. In accomplishing this goal I’ve teamed up with Mark Broder of Broder Jewelry Design who creates fine jewelry made of gold, diamonds and other precious gemstones.
Miranda is made with "Patera" pendants. A Patera is a small shallow dish and in this case I've inserted a photo with a Swarovski crystal and encapsulated it with a polymer resin. These are very customizable and virtually anything can be mounted in a patera, including small crystals, shells, flowers, beads, etc. It's like scrapbooking on a tiny surface!

Copper Heart-I've created a necklace set using a copper heart pendant and Russian serpentine beads and copper findings.
Rainforest Jasper Leaf-This necklace is made of a stone called Rhyolite and is also know as Rainforest Jasper. It's of volcanic origin and is found in Australia and other places around the world.
Copper Feather Set-I've created this set using Iron Pyrite squares, copper fresh water pearls, Montana blue Swarovski crystals and copper and silver findings.
Barefoot Sandals-Barefoot sandals are my signature piece of jewelry and pictured here are sea blue colored sandals that can be worn at the beach, at the pool, or anywhere you want your feet to look pretty. I make them for brides getting married on the beach and many samples can by found on my website under Wedding Jewelry.
I display my art at many venues including the Contra Costa Fairgrounds, Brentwood Art & Wine Festival, CoCo County Wine Company in Brentwood, Tenuta Vineyards in Livermore, Trilogy in the Vineyards in Brentwood, The Lions Club annual Art Wine & Boat Show, Discovery Bay Yacht Club’s annual Boutique, Summerset Retirement Community Spring and Holiday Boutiques, Danville Art Show, Wine in the Bay Annual Fund Raiser by St. Annes Catholic Church, Oakley Harvest Festival and Livermore’s Harvest Festival and Holiday in the Vineyards Events.
I also do fundraisers for Kaleidoscope and Special Kids Foundation giving back 25% of my sales to these worthwhile organizations.
