In Memory of Ronald Beatty
Our friend and fellow artist Ron Beatty passed away on May 25th, 2010. Ron, we will not forget your great smile, generous spirit and wonderful contributions to the art community. You will be greatly missed!
There will be a Memorial service for Ron at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Friday, June 4th at 11:30 am at:

DAL News of Importance
· Next DAL Meeting will be July 6th at 1:00 at the Weber Gallery. Please bring your art to enter in our contest.
Art Togetherness is every Tuesday at the Weber Gallery at 10:00 am to get together with other artists to create your favorite art. Bring your project to work on and your own materials. This is a time of sharing, exchanging ideas and critique, not instruction.
Scholarship Winner-Youn Lee of Las Positas College won the award for her oil painting called “The Potter”. Samantha Brown and Teresa Ochoa attended the ceremony when Bill Paskewitz presented her with a check for $500 from the Discover Art League. Thank you both for your efforts!
On behalf of the Discover Art League members we wish to thank Jack Gaughan for organizing our biggest and best Open Studio Tour yet! The guide book this year was fabulous and Jack did an outstanding job getting the word out to the press. And thank you to all of you who opened up your homes for the weekend to hold this great event.

Discover Art League Bi-Monthly Art Contest
Bring a piece of art to the next art league meeting to be entered in a contest. The winner will be chosen by popular vote and if you win your art will be mentioned in the following newsletter and on the Discover Art League’s website. Thank you Barb Hansen for bringing and displaying her oil painting called “Dark Day at the Pond”. We had no contest in May because of the small meeting attendance so Barb won by default!

Categories: Paintings in All Media, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, Graphics and limited openings in Fine Jewelry (no crafts). This event is sponsored by Alamo Danville Artist’s Society. Art, Wine & Jazz Festival August 28th & 29th
This year’s Art, Wine & Jazz festival will be help at the Streets of Brentwood. You will need a Resale Certificate to participate so you will need to fill out an application with the State Board of Equalization. Juried Exhibition at Haggin Museum in Stockton

Pam Brekas Exhibition
After successful solo shows at the Carson Nugget in Carson City, NV, and St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City, NV, abstract artist and photographer Pam Brekas from Gardnerville, NV will exhibit Abstract Nevada paintings and photographs at the Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko, NV.
